Farmers protest over supermarket milk prices

Help

Hundreds of farmers blockaded milk plants into the early hours in protest at the price supermarkets pay for milk.

The farmers - angry at cuts of up to 2p a litre - blocked deliveries with their tractors at plants in Somerset, Leicestershire, Yorkshire.

Farmers for Action (FFA) threatened further blockades and said members may hold back their milk from suppliers.

But the British Retail Consortium said supermarkets paid well and it was other purchasers who should be scrutinised.

Louise Hubball reports.
