IMF boss Christine Lagarde on visit to Japan

Help

Christine Lagarde, managing director of the International Monetary Fund, is visiting Japan.

Ms Lagarde is due to hold talks with Japan's Finance Minister Jun Azumi, where the continuing sovereign debt crisis in the eurozone is expected to dominate their discussions, the BBC's Mariko Oi reports.

The meeting also comes as the IMF is pushing Japan to increase its sales tax, a change which is now going through Japan's parliament.

Ms Lagarde's visit comes ahead of the IMF holding its annual meeting in Japan in October.
