HS2 rail line 'will be built' says transport secretary

The Transport Secretary, Justine Greening, has insisted that a proposed new high speed rail line in England will be built.

She said the link - which will run from London to Manchester and Leeds - was "critical" for the economy.

She dismissed a magazine article, which had quoted an unnamed Conservative minister saying that the scheme was, in effect, dead.

During the interview with BBC Transport Correspondent Richard Westcott, Ms Greening also spoke about the proposed third runway for Heathrow airport and transport during the London 2012 Olympics.
