Why buy food at a farmers' market?

Market-goers and organisers at Rode Hall Farmers' Market in south Cheshire explain why they love shopping there.

Provenance, quality, and taste are the most important factors influencing the choice these shoppers make about their food products.

There are now around 750 farmers' markets in the UK according to the National Farmers' Retail and Markets Association (Farma).

All eyes are on markets with the launch of the BBC Food and Farming Awards and National Market Day on Saturday June 23.
