Overhaul at Australian media firm Fairfax

Australian media giant Fairfax has announced that it is to cut 1,900 jobs in a bid to make the company profitable again.

It also revealed that it will erect paywalls on its flagship online titles to generate more revenue.

With advertising revenues from its print versions in freefall, the company is undertaking major changes towards a digital future.
