Help

The US computer giant Hewlett Packard says it is laying off 27,000 staff, which is 8% of its total workforce.

It is not clear how many of those will be in the UK but it employs 20,000 there.

The manufacturer has struggled to compete in a marketplace dominated by smartphones and tablet computers.
