Training course for Philippine maids

Help

With 100,000 Filipinos going abroad every year to work as domestic helpers, they are lured by the ability to earn a salary four or five times of what they would be able to get if they stayed in the Philippines.

To help improve standards, especially for those that come from rural villages, all would-be overseas maids have to undergo a month-long training programme.

As the BBC's Kate McGeown reports, going abroad to work for a family remains a popular way for people to escape high unemployment and low wages in the Philippines.
