Samsung and Apple meet in the United States on Monday in high level talks aimed at resolving a legal dispute over patents that has lasted more than a year.

The legal battle over rights to technology used in smartphones, tablet computers and other mobile devices has led to more than 50 lawsuits in 10 countries.

The BBC's Leisha Chi reports that the battles in court are costing both companies dearly and investors are hoping they will reach a resolution.
