Sony braced for full-year loss

Sony will report its full-year results later on Thursday, with the Japanese electronics giant having already forecast a loss of $6.4bn (£4bn).

Its bleak performance has seen its share price tumble 40% over the past 12 months to a 25-year low.

Turning the company around will be the top priority for new chief executive Kazuo Hirai, who replaced Howard Stringer at the beginning of April.

The BBC's Roland Buerk outlines the challenges facing Mr Hirai.
