Rolls-Royce to open Singapore plant

Help

Rolls-Royce will open a new half a billion dollar plant in Singapore later this month.

The engine maker will assemble its Trent engines and manufacture the fan blades that go into them at the facility.

When fully operational, it will contribute as much as half a percent to the Singapore's gross domestic product.

The BBC was given exclusive access to the plant before its official opening and as Sharanjit Leyl found out, this new Asian location will be key to the firm's future.
