Will summit focus on oil or alternative energy?

Help

This week the Gulf hosts a summit on how to address the world's future energy needs.

Major energy consumers such as China, India and South Korea are sending large delegations.

But will their focus really be on the alternative energy of the years to come or - with jitters over sanctions on Iranian oil and Tehran's threat to block the Strait of Hormuz - is it all about bolstering ties with the oil-rich region and getting contingency plans should supplies from Iran slip away?

Simon Atkinson reports.
