Business bites: Olympus to sue executives over accounting cover-up

The Japanese camera maker Olympus is to sue 19 current and former executives for their alleged role in a $1.7bn (£1bn) accounting cover-up at the firm.

The fraud was revealed after the company fired chief executive Michael Woodford when he questioned dubious payments.

Meanwhile, fears are raised that the world's second largest economy could be losing steam as new figures indicate growth in China's exports slowed in December because of sluggish demand from the US and Europe.
