Mixed views as Russia-Germany gas pipeline opens
German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Russian President Dimitri Medvedev have inaugurated a new gas pipeline that runs under the Baltic Sea from Russia to Germany.
The Nord Stream energy link is seen as a coup for Russia, opening up more access to European markets, but bypasses countries such as Poland and Ukraine and has not been popular with environmentalists.
Meanwhile, the camera manufacturer Olympus has admitted to hiding losses on securities investments for decades.
