Google's second quarter profits, which will be announced later, could be disappointing.

The summer months are usually the slowest for internet traffic and that could debt Google's advertising profits.

That comes as the search engine is spending much more on new ventures to fend off additional competition from Microsoft, Yahoo and AOL.
