The Chancellor donned his black tie at the Mansion House yesterday, announcing a much-trailed sale plan for Northern Rock.

But what's the view from those bankers who attended the posh dinner?

Gerard Lyons from Standard Chartered Bank witnessed George Osborne's speech. He told BBC Radio 5 live: "The speeches were very long last night, but they were very substantive."

"The Chancellor was quite confident," Lyons explained to Dominic Laurie and Mickey Clark on Wake Up To Money.
