Bolivian Fairtrade gold gets royal seal of approval
Royal jewellers Garrard have given their seal of approval to fair trade gold, which was launched on the UK and Canada markets on Monday.
Called "Fairmined" gold, each piece carries the Fairtrade hallmark.
The Alliance for Responsible Mining works with miners on the ground in Bolivia, where the first bars of this type are from. Director Cristina Echavarria says that the small groups of artisanal miners had been previously exploited and marginalised.
She tells BBC Radio 5 live Up All Night's Rhod Sharp how the scheme helps the miners.
