What would you ask a room of Nobel prizewinners?

Rodin's Thinker

A group of wise men are preparing to meet. It's that time of year.

They won't be meeting on the road to Bethlehem, however, but in Stockholm on 11 December.

The wise men are, in fact, 2013's crop of Nobel prize winners, who will be visiting Sweden to pick up their awards. Sadly, there will be no wise women, as the only female prize winner this year - the writer, Alice Munro, winner of the literature prize - is expected to be unable to attend.

Such a concentration of brainpower in one place is rare. Luckily the Magazine may have a chance to ask them all a handful of questions. Please submit your ideas using the form at the side of this page.

You may be interested in the secret of their success, their lifestyle, their hopes and fears, their predictions for 2100… or their views on the shortage of women Nobel laureates.

The opportunity to pose questions arises because, coinciding with the award ceremony, the BBC will be screening the Nobel Minds debate, chaired by presenter Zeinab Badawi.

Participants will include:

  • Francois Englert and Peter W Higgs (Physics)
  • Martin Karplus, Michael Levitt and Arieh Warshel (Chemistry)
  • James E Rothman, Randy W Schekman and Thomas C Suedhof (Medicine)
  • Eugene F Fama, Lars Peter Hansen and Robert J Shiller (Economics)

(The winners of the Nobel peace prize, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, will not be there because they receive their prize at a separate ceremony in Oslo.)

What question would you like to ask?

Please let us know. We will make a selection - and print any answers we receive.
