Boston marathon bombings: US government to seek death penalty

US Attorney General Eric Holder has said the government will seek the death penalty against Boston Marathon bombings suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

Seventeen of 30 charges against the 20-year-old carry the possibility of capital punishment, including using a weapon of mass destruction to kill.

The bombings killed three and injured more than 260 in April 2013.

The BBC's David Willis says Tsarnaev has indicated that he will plead 'not guilty' to the charges.
