US reviews prison sentences for drug crimes

The US government has outlined sweeping changes to criminal sentencing, aimed at tackling the problem of prison overcrowding.

The attorney general, Eric Holder, said mandatory prison sentences for some drug-related crimes should be scrapped.

At the moment, the US has one of the world's biggest prison populations.
