President Barack Obama returns to election campaign trail

President Obama has resumed his election campaign schedule, four days after suspending it to deal with the effects of storm Sandy.

Mr Obama had planned campaign stops on Thursday in Nevada, Colorado and Wisconsin. His opponent, Republican Mitt Romney, was due to attend a number of events in the battleground state of Virginia.

Speaking at a rally in Wisconsin, President Obama said that disaster "showed America at its best".
