'Real risk' of siege in Iraq, former US ambassador warns
There is a "real risk" Islamist militants could attack Baghdad, a former US ambassador to the country has claimed.
It comes after Islamist militants seized two more towns in Iraq, widening their control after threatening to move on to the capital.
James Jeffrey, US Ambassador in Iraq from 2010 until 2012, told BBC Radio 5 live's Up All Night a siege would be a "disaster" and could potentially spark "the biggest war in the region in decades".
