UN undersecretary-general on Syria negotiations
The United Nations is sending its undersecretary-general for humanitarian affairs, Baroness Amos, to negotiate with the government in Syria.
A United Nations panel has drawn up a confidential list of Syrian officials, believed to include President Assad, who could face investigation for crimes against humanity.
Lady Amos spoke to the BBC about her planned trip and what it might achieve.
