Italians in Buenos Aires protest over removal of Columbus statue
Representatives of the Italian community in Buenos Aires have protested against the central government's plans to relocate a statue of the famous explorer Christopher Columbus and replace it with another statue of a Latin American independence leader.
Central authorities say the statue is in need of repair and poses a threat to the public.
But the mayor of Buenos Aires city is on the side of the protesters and says the decision to move the monument is up to him.
Rodrigo Pinto reports.
