Putin on Ukraine talks: 'Beginning of important process'

Russian President has given his views on the hopes for peace in Ukraine during an off the cuff interview with the BBC's John Sweeney.

The brief interview took place behind the scenes during a conference attended by the Russian leader in the Belarus capital Minsk.

Mr Putin said the process of direct negotiations was "the beginning of a very important process".
