Tension continues in Ukraine ahead of Crimea referendum

There have been violent clashes in eastern Ukraine, the day before a referendum in Crimea on whether the region should remain part of Ukraine or join Russia.

The UN Security Council is due to vote on a US-backed resolution, which describes the referendum as illegal.
