German leader makes historic WWII France massacre site visit

German President Joachim Gauck has visited a village in France where 642 people were killed by Nazi troops in June 1944.

He is the first senior dignitary from Germany to visit Oradour-sur-Glane, where the ruins have been preserved since the massacre.

President Gauck joined hands with French President Francois Hollande inside the church ruins at the site.
