Americans could be banned from adopting Russian children, says Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said he sees no reason not to sign a bill into law that would ban Americans adopting Russian children and promised to improve the care of orphaned youngsters.

The comments were the strongest indication yet that he will approve the adoption ban legislation, which has strained US-Russia relations.

Speaking at a meeting with government officials in Moscow, President Putin said he had to review the final text before the ban could be made law.
