Baby saved after mother shot dead in Madrid church
Surgeons in Spain have saved the life of a baby boy after his mother, who was pregnant with him, was shot dead in Madrid.
The ambulance team could not save the mother, who had been shot in the head, and performed an emergency caesarean section at the scene.
The gunman opened fire in a church on Thursday evening, shooting apparently at random. He then killed himself.
The newborn baby boy was in intensive care in hospital but in a serious condition, the Spanish newspaper ABC reported.
