Migrants leap to escape Italian police batons

There have been clashes between migrants and Italian police on the tiny island of Lampedusa, south of Sicily.

Lampedusa has had an influx of migrants fleeing the violence in North Africa this year.

Television footage showed some of them resorted to leaping 4m (13ft) off a balcony to avoid the police batons during Wednesday's clashes.
