Mediterranean food named UN cultural treasure

The Mediterranean diet, Spain's flamenco dance and Chinese acupuncture have been given UN protection as cultural treasures worth preserving.

The traditions were added to UNESCO's "intangible heritage" list on Tuesday.

The list was established in 2006 to help spread knowledge of inherited cultural practices and promote awareness of their importance.

Duncan Kennedy reports.
