Missing China bishop Thaddeus Ma Daqin 'sent to political classes'

A Chinese catholic bishop who disappeared from public view almost 18 months ago is now being sent to regular political lessons by the authorities.

At his ordination in Shanghai last year, Thaddeus Ma Daqin appeared to challenge the ruling communist party, by announcing his resignation from the state-run body that controls the church there. He has not been seen in public since.

From Shanghai, John Sudworth reports.
