Pakistan's former Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry steps down

Pakistan's outspoken and often controversial Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has stepped down, leaving behind a divided legacy of respect on one hand and criticism on the other.

Some have praised him for fearlessly taking on politicians and security agencies, while others have criticised him for exceeding the authority of his office and interfering in political matters.

He is succeeded by Tassaduq Hussain Jillani who took oath as the 21st Chief Justice of Pakistan.

BBC Urdu's Iram Abbasi looks back at Iftikhar's journey, which made global headlines.
