Pakistan earthquake: Appeal as militants hamper rescue efforts

Attempts to rescue people trapped by a 7.7-magnitude earthquake in Pakistan are being hampered by insurgent attacks.

Officials in the country have called on militant groups to halt attacks in the south-western province affected by Tuesday's quake.

On Thursday an army helicopter carrying the head of Pakistan's national disaster agency, Maj Gen Alam Saeed, escaped a rocket attack, reports say.

Shahzeb Jillani reports from Quetta.
