Australia Election: Polling day under way

More than 14.5 million eligible voters are expected to cast their ballots in the Australian election.

Under Australian law, voting is mandatory for all citizens above the age of 18.

The economy, asylum seekers and the unpopular carbon tax have been the main issues of an often fractious campaign.

Jon Donnison reports from a polling station in Sydney.
