Fears of violence at Dhaka strike
The opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party has declared a two-day country-wide general strike in protest at the continued detention of its leaders and activists.
They were arrested on charges of inciting violence during a demonstration earlier in March.
Clashes between the opposition and the ruling Awami League party were reported in the run up to the strike, and there are growing fears that there may be more violence to come.
The BBC's Anbarasan Ethirajan in Dhaka says some people are scared to leave their homes.
