Australia swimmers sorry for pre-Games 'bonding' session

Members of Australia's Olympic swimming team said they used the sleeping medication Stilnox during a "bonding" session before the Games last year.

The six male athletes also said they engaged in disruptive behaviour.

Daniel Kowalski, CEO of Australian Swimmers Association, made a statement to the media describing the incident.

James Magnussen said he felt under pressure in the build-up to the Olympics and wanted to be "normal" for one night.

Eamon Sullivan said he was sorry that as a senior member of the team he had not shown more leadership.

Swimming Australia said the swimmers would face an inquiry panel.
