Afghan girls defy prejudice and attacks on schools

The number of girls who are able to go to school in Afghanistan has gone up dramatically in the last 10 years.

However, a series of recent attacks on schools across the country has lead the Afghan government to close down some 500 schools.

In an act of defiance - schoolgirls carry on attending lessons.

Karen Zarindast reports.
