Desperate plight of famine-hit refugees in Somalia

Aid will be airlifted into the Somali capital Mogadishu within days according to the UN as famine grips East Africa.

Over 3.5 million people - almost half the Somali population - are now facing severe food shortages.

The BBC's Will Ross has been to Mogadishu where he saw refugees in desperate need of food.

Details of the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) East Africa Crisis Appeal can be found at DEC.org.uk or call 0370 60 60 900 to donate.
