Philippines to improve basic infrastructure

The Philippines has for many years lagged behind many of its neighbours in infrastructure spending.

It is why traffic is often gridlocked and manufacturers and farmers cannot transport their goods quickly.

It is also the reason why more than $9bn dollars is earmarked this year alone to try to improve the situation.
