Call for parents to boost learning
Parents in Wales should do more to help raise standards in schools, the man responsible for the international education league table Pisa has said.
Speaking at a conference in Cardiff, Andreas Schleicher, head of education at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), also said pupils in Wales lacked ambition and must try harder.
First Minister Carwyn Jones said it was important PISA tests were taken seriously but said paper qualifications were only part of the picture of success.
BBC Wales' education correspondent Arwyn Jones reports.
