Farmers' CAP cuts will hit community, says farmer

Anglesey farmer Phil Siddall from Bryn Hywydd, Newborough, says expected cuts in payments to help farmers produce food will hit the wider community.

He was speaking to Iolo ap Dafydd on BBC Radio Wales ahead of an announcement by the Natural Resources Minister, who is to reveal the payments later on Tuesday.

"If he cuts our income we won't have the money to spend and that will be a great disappointment to the community because we spend all our money on Anglesey - everything goes back to the community," said Mr Siddall.

Payments which come from the EU's Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) are expected to fall and there may be different rates to help upland farms.
