Powys power struggle 'not usual,' says Glyn Davies MP

The political 'bloodletting' in Powys council is hard for the public to understand but will not affect the local authority's services, says Montgomeryshire MP Glyn Davies.

Powys council leader David Jones was ousted in a vote of no confidence by fellow councillors as the local authority to looks make £20m budget savings in the next financial year.

The council is traditionally controlled by independents but there has been a power struggle in recent weeks.

Conservative Mr Davies, speaking to Peter Johnson at Radio Wales, said such political turmoil was "not hugely unusual" for a rural council run by non-mainstream groupings.
