'Replace mural' call by Newport Chartist campaigners

Campaigners in Newport say they are committed to making the council replace the Chartist-themed mural that was demolished in the city on Thursday.

The piece of civic art, which represented the 1839 Chartist uprising, was removed from an underpass by diggers.

Newport council has said moving the mural would cost £600,000 and might not work.

Heritage body Cadw declined to list the mosaic which was constructed in 1978.

Jordan Davies reports.
