Future of rural healthcare debated at Aberystwyth University

Talks over the future of health services in rural Wales are being held at Aberystwyth University later.

Former Ceredigion MP Lord Elystan Morgan will chair the event.

In 2009, Lord Morgan was asked by Health Minister Edwina Hart to look into the provision of care in rural areas and how this could be improved.

Dr Glenys Williams, a senior lecturer in law at Aberystwyth University and organiser of the conference, said people in rural areas did not receive as good a service as people in urban locations.

She said one of the causes of this was the distance people had to travel.

Dr Williams spoke to Bethan Rhys Roberts on BBC Radio Wales.
