Howell's School, Denbigh: Closure shock for PTA vice chairman

A private girls' school in north Wales says it is to close because of financial problems.

Howell's School in Denbigh, which has been operating for over 150 years, has emailed parents telling them it will not open for the new term in September.

In March a former head teacher at the school won a case for unfair dismissal and compensation has not yet been agreed.

Steven Griffiths, the vice-chairman of the school's parent teacher association (PTA) whose daughter is a pupil at Howell's, said they were disappointed about the way news of the closure has emerged.
