Live shell exploded at Beachley Point near Chepstow

A controlled explosion of a live artillery shell has taken place near the River Severn.

An area of the shore at Beachley Point near Chepstow, was cordoned off after the mortar shell was discovered by Chepstow Coastguard on Sunday.

The explosive device was made safe overnight and exploded by expert bomb disposal teams on Monday.
