April Jones: Disappearance touches the nation

As 2012 draws to a close, BBC Wales is looking back at some of the stories that have touched the nation most.

On 1 October five-year-old April Jones went missing from outside her home in the small mid Wales town of Machynlleth.

Her disappearance sparked one of the largest police searches in UK history and officers are still scouring the countryside around the town for her.

Mark Bridger has been remanded in custody, charged with murder, child abduction and perverting the course of justice.

Cemlyn Davies reports.
