Wales school banding: Unions brand ranking system 'confusing'
Teaching unions have described a system of ranking secondary school performance as confusing and not credible.
They are reiterating calls for it to be scrapped.
Many schools previously in the highest band one have found themselves placed in lower bands this year, including the best performing school in 2011.
Ysgol Tryfan in Bangor dropped from band one to band four.
The figures show that there are 28 schools in band one, the majority are in the middle three bands and 24 schools in band five.
The Welsh government says the system identifies the schools that need support.
Education correspondent Nicola Smith reports.
