North Sea oil is 'fantastic asset', says MSP Maureen Watt

SNP MSP Maureen Watt spoke to BBC Radio Scotland's Good Morning Scotland about a report saying North Sea oil revenues had become erratic.

She admitted that there was an aging oil field in the North Sea, but she added that there was massive investment coming forward.

Ms Watt pointed out that Talisman had committed long term to the North Sea; Dana Petroleum had recently injected more than £1bn into the sector in Scotland and GE Oil and Gas was creating 120 posts in Aberdeen and Montrose.

She posed the question: "Why are these companies investing billions of dollars in the North Sea if they do not believe that there is a bright future for the North sea - it's a fantastic asset and will continue to be so for an independent Scotland."
