D-Day anniversary: 'Forever thankful for their sacrifices'

Events have been held to mark the 70th anniversary of D-Day, the invasion of German-occupied Europe which led to victory for Allied forces in World War Two.

In Scotland, veterans and others have been recalling their memories of the historic landings.

A special D-Day afternoon tea was held at Auchlochan Garden retirement village in Lanarkshire. Among those attending was Grethe, who was a schoolgirl in occupied Denmark at the time of the invasion.

She told BBC Scotland how she reacted to the news that Allied forces had managed to land in Europe.
